Why I'm Travelling With LBW: Insider Testimonials From Central America Travellers

Hey! I'm Kirklin! I'm 25 years old, born and raised in Edmonton AB Canada. I first encountered LBW in 2013 - I was feeling restless and nervous, 3/4 of the way through a Bachelor of Science at University of Alberta in Edmonton, considering applying to Veterinary School - and SO ready to find out what the world was like beyond my own front door. Colourful advertisements splashed across my Facebook newsfeed - neons lights, white sand beaches, tanned faces, sandy toes, spontaneous laughter. I put down my $200 deposit with the unabashed confidence of a 21 year old that doesn't really know the value of a dollar.....let alone two hundred, let alone two thousand!

6 weeks travelling through Thailand came and went like a dream; an illusion that was only possible in my wildest dreams. Tanned, weather-worn backpackers embraced my intense presence and exuberant personality with open arms. I was surrounded by kindred spirits; for the first time in my life I didn't feel ashamed that the kaleidoscope of a sunset over an expanse of fine white sand brought tears of gratitude to my eyes, that a moment of recognition between complete strangers in a foreign place made me feel that I would never be alone again. The people I met in those 42 days in 2013 have since gotten married, had babies, been awarded job promotions, secured mortgages, leases....social media has allowed me to follow along with the lives and take joy in their acheivements. I'll never forget what we shared in for 42 days in 2013...I would do anything for them; time and distance hasn't changed a thing.

I applied to Veterinary School at University of Saskatchewan and was admitted in the fall of 2015 (much to my joy and amazement!). Two years later, having endured endless lectures under bright neon lights in the Vet college, all-nighters in the echoey recesses of the Vet library and late nights in the college anatomy lab amongst the formalin-imbued specimens all lead me to summer break 2017 looming before me, and the familiar restless feeling resting in my gut. It was almost unconscious when I opened a web browser and typed into the google search drive "Life Before Work Central America." Before long I was booked into 3 weeks in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama with my favourite tour company.

The next 3 weeks are going to be amazing and I'm excited to share it with you!

Hi everyone! My name is Nishaa Sharma, and I'm a twenty-year-old university student studying Strategic and Corporate Communications and Journalism (which is a total mouthful!) in sunny Orange County, California. I love travel (of course!), road trips, anything that has to do with the ocean, photography, writing, and spending time with friends and family, and my four adorable puppies back home at my parents' house in Portland, Oregon.

This is my first trip with LBW, and I have been waiting nearly three years to finally sign up for my tour, so to say I'm excited to get to Nicaragua tomorrow is the understatement of the century. I don't really know what to expect since I've never done a tour like this before, but that makes it all the better, since unplanned adventures are oftentimes the best ones. I can't wait to have the chance to travel with like-minded people my age, make new friends, enjoy the nightlife and the nature, and to make memories that I'm sure will last a lifetime!

If you want to check out my personal blog, visit nishaasharma.com and you can take a peek at my instagram @nishaa_sharma where I'll be posting all the best moments from this trip!

Thanks for stopping by!

There are spots left on the upcoming tour, don't get left behind! Tell us what you would want to do in Nicaragua in the comments below!
