If you love exploring the unknown there is one destination nearly untouched by the western world and that is Vietnam. Visiting places that have not been taken over by tourism are special because they have beautiful scenery, no light pollution and an incredible atmosphere.
We recommend adding Vietnam to your bucket list and here are 5 reasons why:
(1) Cruise along Ha Long Bay
“Bay of Descending Dragons” - a world heritage site famous for limestone karsts and isles in various shapes and sizes. This is definitely something that will blow your mind whether you see this natural surrounding in the day or lit up by the boats during the evening.
(2) Cu Chi tunnels
Take a trip into history and experience how the Vietnamese Cong guerillas crawled through the Cu Chi tunnels. These tunnels were used as used as hiding spots. You also have the ability to view the remnants of the bomb craters, and even fire an AK-47.
(3) Paradise Cave
Once you’re inside this natural cave which is surrounded by the forest and karst peaks, the sheer scale of Paradise Cave is truly breathtaking, as wooden staircases descend into a cathedral-like space replete with colossal stalagmites and glimmering stalactites of white crystal that resemble glass pillars. The cave system extends for 31km, though most people only visit the first kilometre or so.
(4) Visit Sa Pa
Established as a hill station by the French in 1922, Sa Pa is the one place in the northwest where tourism is booming. It’s now firmly on the European and North American package-tour circuit, and well-equipped trekkers are a common sight around town.
(5) Con Doa Island
Con Son, the largest of this chain of 15 islands and islets, is ringed with lovely beaches, coral reefs and scenic bays, and remains partially covered in thick forests. In addition to hiking, diving and exploring empty coastal roads and deserted beaches, there are some excellent wildlife-watching opportunities such as the black giant squirrel and the endemic bow-fingered gecko.
