Living the life in Lombok

They say that after you get to Lombok the trip just flies by... And they couldn't be more right! It honestly feels like we were barely there! I swear the hotels just keep getting better everywhere we go though! Right now we are staying in these adorable little cottages in Gili Air, that have hammocks on the porches (seriously they make us so happy!!) but I'll save that for the next post!

Now back to Lombok. We were only there for three nights. We spent the day visiting two different beaches. The drive was a little crazy, it honestly felt like we were in Mario kart sometimes haha but we all made it there.

We arrived at the hotel later in the afternoon and had some time to get ready before dinner. The restaurant was really good- I literally eat chicken curry everywhere I go haha, gotta get my fill before I go home! That night was our first night to go out again since Kuta and we were definitely all ready to let loose! The beach bar we went to was pretty quiet so we had the place to ourselves which turned out to be super fun! Basically, it was just a dance party for the rest of the night - even our tour guides were all showing off their best moves in the dance circles! As you can see, we are a very serious bunch haha.

The next day everyone had the option to go on a waterfall trek through the jungle. I very quickly turned that one down hah, I mean my legs had just stopped being sore from the volcano trek! The pictures from the waterfall look amazing though! My sister and I chose to beach bum around for the day instead. The beach was literally about ten steps from our hotel (talk about living the dream!). The beach had a bunch of gorgeous rock formations that lots of people were hanging out on, but we stuck to tanning in the sand. It wasn't quite as peaceful as we had hoped it would be...one word - bracelets. This beach had tons of kids selling bracelets, almost every five minutes one was coming up to you. We made the mistake of buying some haha. They say that when you buy from someone on the beach be prepared for everyone else to come up to you after- well apparently it also means 25 children will encircle you and shove boards of bracelets in your face haha. Don't get me wrong though, we love the bracelets that we bought, at only 50 cents per bracelet how could you not!? But our beach adventure literally ended with me yelling at my sister "grab 2 and let's run" while throwing money back at the kids and actually sprinting off the beach. Lombok is actually probably the cheapest place that we've been, some girls paid up to 2.50 for their bracelets in other cities, so we still left happy! Lucky for us our hotel had a really nice outdoor pool that we were able to spend the rest of the day in. This trip is so busy that it was really nice to just have a day to ourselves to relax!

That night we were supposed to go out again but we found out right before we headed out that the bar had been shut down for the night. It's Ramadan right now so a lot of the bars aren't supposed to be open, but it's supposed to be a pretty big party when it ends, and we will be in Gili T for that. So we all headed to bed early and got ready to leave for Gili Air in the morning. After a 2 hour drive, and a quick ferry ride, we were on this beautiful island. Every day just keeps getting better, I tell ya! I'll be sure to catch you all up on Gili Air soon!

Later friends!
