Ten of us embarked on Caribbean Dream at the end of February and we’ve had some weird moments thus far...
Day one we ended up in a traffic jam and were faced with the possibility of not making it to Bocas Del Toro. Literally trucks bumper to bumper in both directions. When the tour guide looks at everyone’s shoes to gauge how fast we can run for the border you know you’re in for a good time. With a lot of luck and some high speed ditch driving we were able to pull ahead.
Since arriving in Bocas we’ve had a lot of beer, asymmetrical sunburns, and 1 broken toe. The colours of the island are incredible - lush trees, glistening sea, warm tones and good vibes everywhere.
"Even the dogs are smiling!"
We’ve enjoyed a catamaran cruise (with pretty much Jack Sparrow as captain) and have become very familiar wandering the townsite. Every person we’ve met has been wonderful - it’s really the people that make Bocas del Toro paradise. From authentic restaurants to the best view points on the island, the locals have been very generous in sharing their home with us.
Central America has been good to us so far and we’re going to make the most of the time we have to experience this chapter of our lives.
